Clients
Mazda is an American account on which I worked through the agency Wunderman Thompson (now WML), which has offices in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Challenge
Process
We implemented various processes for this account.
In the early stages, we used Adobe Flash and a bit of ActionScript code, which was trendy at that time, for banner creation. As the web evolved, we transitioned to creating or editing banners with HTML5, CSS3, and JS. Initially, these banners had static backgrounds, but as ad managers improved, we could incorporate animated backgrounds with video (using videos as a base or animated photos). The use of templates to streamline the process was crucial. Working with teams of various people and having simple and robust bases helped achieve consistency and improved execution in the final products.
On the other hand, creating resources for the website involved a different process. Most of these resources were based on materials from the client or third parties. Requirements included creating different sizes of images and optimizing them for use on different devices and browsers.
This led me to work on photographic retouching for image expansion, necessary to cover the majority of required sizes, whether in video or images.
At a certain point, we also created "cinemagraph" style animations. These involved creating animations based on a static image, decomposed into various parts to simulate movement.
Other types of work I undertook included designing and developing email campaigns.
